Nothing says summer quite like fresh watermelon does! It's my favourite fruit this time of year and it definitely helps that it's a guilt free one. Low in calories, high in water content and an excellent source of vitamin A and C makes watermelon a welcome addition to your summer diet.
With temperatures sky high this week, I found myself craving ice-cold drinks to quench my thirst. But water just wasn't cutting it anymore. So with a fridge full of cut up watermelon, I threw together this refreshing watermelon smoothie. Perfect for a mid-day pick me up or a cool desert!
Recipe (serves 1):
1 cup cubed watermelon
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 tsp of honey or sweetener of your choice (optional)
Blend all ingredients in a blender till smooth and enjoy!
Yum! Looks delicious! I never have good luck blending up frozen strawberries, but I'll have to try this. :) I've been enjoying some homemade iced tea this week ... I make a pitcher and leave it unsweetened and it's great! Feels like I'm indulging but I'm not!
ReplyDeleteReally?! I think the trick is to blend the softer ingredients first - so watermelon on the bottom and strawberries on top :) I've never made homemade iced tea before, but I really should! I love feeling like you're indulging but you're not!
DeleteI've never had the watermelon-strawberry combo before; I normally do strawberry-banana-vanilla milk or strawberry-blueberry-orange juice. Thanks for the recipe - this looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteWatermelon banana (must be frozen banana) is also really delicious! :)
