1. Diana Gabaldon: 10 - I own 6 in hardcover and a few duplicates in paperback. Because who knows which format I'll want to read them in.
2. Robert Fulghum: 8 - I first discovered Fulghum's books when I was 14 and spent a good chunk of my summer vacation in Croatia on my grandparent's farm. Teenage me filled page after page in a journal reflecting on the wise words. Oh teenage me.
3. J.K. Rowling: 6 - All the Harry Potter books minus 1. Confession: I have yet to make my way through this entire series. Maybe when Sully is old enough to read the books with me?
4. Wally Lamb: 5 - The only one I haven't read is the collection of short stories by women from York Correctional Institution in Connecticut where Lamb taught (teaches?) a writing workshop.
5. Amy Tan: 5 - I love Amy Tan. Love her. Still keeping my eye out at thrift and second hand book stores for a hardcover copy of The Joy Luck Club.
6. Emily Giffin: 5 - One of my guilty, chick-lit pleasures.
I own 4 books of several other authors, so honourable mentions go to: Agatha Christie, Lori Lansens, Stephanie Meyer (I know, I know!), Christopher Paolini, Jenny Han, Nicholas Sparks (stop judging!), Jennifer Weiner, and Rebecca Wells.
Tell me: Which authors dominate your bookshelves? Let me know in the comments!
I love this! Jodi Picoult would be one of my top authors. And no judgement from me, who also owns the entire Twilight saga and a fair number of Nicholas Sparks! And can I also say that It bugged me a little that your Harry Potter titles aren't in order? Hee hee. Although I do like that your editions match ... I have three adult covers, four kids covers and only the last two are in hardcover.
ReplyDeleteHaha! My bookshelves are a complete mess! Those Harry Potter's got out of order during the (failed) HP readalong I did and clearly I'm too busy (lazy) to reorganize them ;) I have a few Jodi Picoult, but not as many as I had thought. That's what was so fun about doing this post - if I had had to do this off the top of my head I would have guessed I had more books of different authors than I do!
DeleteLaurel K Hamilton. She is all about the vampire and werewolf smut. She makes 50 shades look pretty tame. I have all in the series. There is like 20 or something.
ReplyDeleteClive Cussler. Because I don't just like smut. Adventure is great too. Total is in the teens somewhere. Cassandra Clare. I have all 6 in her Immortal Instruments series. It a teen series but whatever. JK Rowling. The HP series and that other one I only read a few chapters and didn't like. Can't even recall the name of it. JR Ward. More Vampire smut. And JR Rain. He is all about Vampires and Zombies etc but not smutty. Quick easy mindless reads and your done in a couple hours. Nothing mind blowing. And the entire outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.
You would never guess from that list but I do actually read some compelling novels as well.
Wow, that's impressive! I think my numbers are low because I never really get into series all that much. I read the first 9 books of the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I had borrowed those from a friend. Other than that, I seem to stick to single (non-series) books. I'm quite familiar with JR Ward and Laurel K Hamilton (from working in a book store), although I can't recall every hearing of JR Rain?? I will have to go do some googling! Thanks for sharing :)
DeleteEmily Giffin books are one of my guilty pleasures too, she's brill.
ReplyDeleteShe really is! I should really get on reading the rest of her books that I haven't yet.
DeleteI own a Nicky Sparks novel or two, too ;)
